Moringa oleifera has been a superfood and recognized as such in tropical and sub-tropical countries for several centuries. However, the West is only now learning of it. With multiple titles such as miracle food and elixir, moringa is now a highly sought after supplement.

With an abundance of supplements available today, it is necessary to understand how and when to consume moringa.

Brewing Moringa Tea

If you have access to fresh moringa leaves, you could just make your batch of moringa powder. Wash the leaves, dry them in the sun, and powder them finely. Another option is to simply clean the fresh leaves and boil them in water for a few minutes.

Moringa tea has an earthy flavour. If that does not appeal to you, have no worries, you can always add a little bit of cinnamon or apple cider vinegar or just about anything to make it work for your taste.

Additionally, moringa powder or leaves can be combined with green tea. The addition of a few slivers of fresh ginger and honey gives that extra zing that we all love. A small spoon of ashwagandha adds to the nutrition profile and taste.

Moringa powder is readily available online and in most grocery stores. This can be added to boiling water and filtered to get moringa tea.

When to consume?

Moringa tea can be had at any time of the day. Most people prefer to have it first in the morning on an empty stomach or at night before sleeping. It is best to have a couple of trials for which time of the day works for you based on your schedule and preference.
